How to change a document title?

Leo Comia Updated by Leo Comia

Steps to Change a Document Title:

  1. Check Out the Document:
    • Locate the document you wish to update and select Check Out.
    • In the Reason for Check-Out drop-down menu, choose one of the following options:
      • Review: To review the document and update its review cycle.
      • Change: To modify the document’s content without updating its review cycle.
      • Formatting: To make minor changes such as formatting.
    • Select Confirm Check Out.
Selecting Formatting will not trigger the approval process, even if approval is configured for the document type, section, or department. Hence, "Formatting" doesn't require approval.
  2. Modify the Document (if necessary):
    • Make any required changes to the document content or formatting based on the check-out reason.
  3. Check In the Document:
    • Once changes are complete, click the Check In button.
    • The Check-In Document window will open.
  4. Change the Document Title:
    • In the Document Name field, the current document title will appear.
    • Update the title to reflect the desired new name.
  5. Set Review Cycle Settings (if applicable):
    • If the document was checked out for Review, you will need to configure the review cycle settings during check-in.
  6. Complete the Check-In Process:
    • Finalise the check-in by clicking Check-In Document
